LOG SPLITTERS
WHAT TYPE OF LOGSPLITTER DO I NEED?
The BE Agriease range of log splitters offer a variety of models designed to handle different splitting tasks with forces ranging from 6 to 40 tons. Whether you’re splitting softwood for firewood or hardwood for heavy-duty industrial use, selecting the right splitter ensures efficiency, safety, and durability. A 6–16 ton splitter is ideal for light-duty applications such as splitting softwoods, smaller logs, and general household firewood preparation. Suitable for occasional use or smaller volumes. A 20–30 ton splitter perfect for medium-duty tasks including splitting larger hardwood logs, frequent use on mixed wood types, and small commercial operations. A 35–40 ton splitter designed for heavy-duty, professional use where large hardwood logs and high volumes are common, such as sawmills or commercial firewood suppliers. VERTICAL VS. HORIZONTAL OPERATION Vertical Operation provides greater control and safety when splitting large, heavy logs that are difficult to maneuver. Ideal for industrial or professional users who require heavy-duty splitting with minimal physical strain. Horizontal Operation is more user-friendly and ergonomic for everyday firewood preparation, especially with smaller logs. Enables quick, repetitive splitting with easy log feeding and removal. Many BE Agriease models offer the flexibility to operate in both vertical and horizontal positions, allowing users to adapt to different wood sizes and job requirements with ease.
WHY GET A CHIPPER?
Investing in a chipper can also make cleanup significantly easier and more efficient. Instead of dealing with large piles of branches, limbs, and garden waste, a chipper breaks down debris into manageable wood chips or mulch. This not only reduces the volume of waste but also allows you to repurpose the material for landscaping, composting, or erosion control. It saves time, reduces trips to the dump, and helps keep your worksite or property tidy and professional-looking. FLYWHEEL (DISC) VS. DRUM MODELS Flywheel (Disc) Chippers feature a vertically oriented rotating disc. As the flywheel spins, wood is chipped across the grain. Larger flywheel models are typically towable by ride-on tractors or ATVs due to their size and weight. Only the lower portion of the disc performs the cutting, which means larger cutting capacity requires a proportionally larger and heavier flywheel. Drum Chippers utilize a horizontally oriented drum that chips wood along the grain with a scooping action. These units are generally more compact and portable, ideal for homeowners and hobby farms. Most models are light enough to be moved by hand. Both chipper types use sharp blades mounted on a rotating mass (disc or drum). The most efficient cutting occurs from the middle to the bottom of the cutting surface. Drum chippers tend to be smaller and lighter than flywheel chippers, which grow significantly in size as capacity increases. Drum chippers are typically better at handling fibrous materials like palm fronds and are known for their self-feeding ability. Flywheel chippers often include a high-discharge chute for easy bin or trailer filling and a 270° rotating discharge for flexible positioning. Drum chippers offer wide hoppers that require less pre-trimming and are designed for ergonomic handling and easy maneuverability.
