First Impressions
Suggested Strategy: Implement observational coaching to help the
employee see how their peers interact with others on their first meeting.
Suggested Questions:
→ Self-Actualized Question: What effect do you think a good first
impression can have on a long-lasting relationship following the first
encounter? What qualities do you think make a good first impression?
→ Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six being flawless and
one being maybe a little bit choppy, where would you rank yourself
based on your initial interactions with clients/customers in building a
positive start to the relationship? What actions can we take together to
help you reach a six?
Suggested Activities:
→ Role Play: Practice a first meeting between your employee and a client,
having your coaching target play both roles. After the conversation, ask
them to list what they think went well, and what they wish they had done
differently and why.
