→ Learning Project Prep: Make the introduction between this person and
another employee that you would like them to observe. Explain the
premise of the introduction (explained in Learning Project 1). By making
the initial introduction, the interaction after your coaching session
between your employee and his/her peer will have an established
purpose and less confusion.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Observational Coaching: Have your employee observe their peer in
their initial interactions with new clients. Your employee should take
notes – three things that they think their peer did well and how this
person could implement those things in their own conversations to boost
their first impressions, and three things that his/her peer could have
done better and how those improvements will benefit the first impression
that their peer is making. Your coaching target should bring those notes
to your next coaching session for discussion.
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Have this person journal with each new
interaction that he/she makes throughout the week. Their entries should
include thoughts on how each interaction can benefit their work
relationships in the long run. How are first impressions and long-
standing relationships tied together and how can they both benefit this
person?
