→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down how the individual you are coaching believes their clients would currently
describe their energy in their interactions. On the right side of the board,
ask them to define what they believe ideal energy in client interactions
looks like. Then, erase the left side of the board and work together with
the individual to create a list of actions for them to take to increase their
positive energy when working with clients.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Observational Coaching: Assign your coaching target to observe their
peers as they interact with clients in the coming week. What can your
coaching target observe related to their peers’ energy in these
interactions? What strategies do their peers seem to have in place to
maintain their energy, even when faced with challenges? How do they
specifically impact their relationships with their clients with positive
energy? What takeaways can the individual you are coaching put into
practice in their own methods of maintaining positive energy in client
interactions? Discuss their observations and the answers to these
questions at your next coaching session.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: Using positive reinforcement, take 30 seconds
to verbally acknowledge the individual’s improvement in their positive
energy when working with clients. Be specific in sharing with them the
actions they have taken and how their efforts are beneficial as they work
toward their goals that you had discussed previously.
