→ Brainstorming: Work together with the individual to build a strategy of how to incorporate their new questions into their daily conversations at
work, so that they are able to mitigate any risks that they may have
previously experienced by not gathering all of the information they need.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Assign your coaching target to meet with a
new peer each week to discuss their strategies for asking questions to
dig deeper into their conversations with their team members. What
types of questions do their peers implement in their conversations so
that they ensure that they are getting all of the information they need?
What takeaways from their peer meetings can they put into practice in
their own conversations? Have the individual you are coaching email
you, copying the person they just met with on the email, to share what
they learned in their meeting, and what successes their peers have
found by implementing the strategies that they have in place.
→ Self-Directed Learning: On the next page of this Coaching Map, there
is a list of question types that you learned in your own studies through
the Progress Coaching online course. Share this list of questions with
the individual you are coaching and ask them to create three sample
questions for each of those categories for your next coaching session so
that they are familiar and comfortable with the wording as they utilize
more effective questions in their conversations.
