→ Role Play: Have practice situations prepared that relate to real situations where the individual typically struggles with being natural. Based on the definition previously discussed, have the individual practice those situations with you. Without breaking out of roles, they should practice the strategies from your whiteboard activity to build their confidence in being natural in their relationships with others. After each practice conversation, ask the individual to share what they think they did well and what they might still want to practice further.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Tangible Successes: Assign your coaching target to come back to
your next coaching session with three examples of situations where they
felt that they were able to be natural, based on the definition from the
beginning of this coaching session. What strategies did they implement
in those situations? What actions did they take that they may not have
taken previously? What was the observed outcome of their interaction?
Was it different than previous interactions?
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Ask your coaching target to keep a journal
in the coming weeks as they practice their newly attained strategies and
skills in being natural with others. They should track in their entries how
they feel after their conversations, what they feel they are accomplishing
and what has been successful, as well as what they still feel they may
need practice or assistance on. Discuss their entries at your next
coaching session.
