Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Self-Directed Learning: Have the members of your team watch a
sports team at some point in the week. What does the team do well
together, and what could they have done better as a unit? Did the team
accomplish a goal together? Each member of your team should email
you and copy the rest of the team on an email with their observations
along with how those observations could be translated to your team
dynamic. How can those team actions and communication with other
departments benefit the team as a whole?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: When a member of the team exhibits strong
communication with a member of the team in another department, take
30 seconds to acknowledge their actions. Be specific in your praise and
in telling them what they have done well and how it will benefit both
departments.
→ Observational Coaching: Ask the members of the team to observe
each other throughout the coming week. How do their peers take
initiative in communicating with other departments? What strategies
could each team member take away from their peers’ actions and put
them into practice in their own cross-departmental communication?
