Suggested Activities:
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of the board, write down how
the team would currently describe their communication with each other.
Then, on the right side of the board, write down the team’s definition of
effective communication that they will implement. Erase the left side of
the board and write down the actions that the team suggests that they
will take to reach the description on the right side of the board.
→ Brainstorming: Create a strategy together of types of communication
that will make the team effective communicators.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Tangible Successes: Assign each member of the team to keep track
of three times during the coming week where they implemented the
strategy and definition of effective communication. By the end of the
week, they should email you and CC every member of the team
(accountability).
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds to recognize verbally when a
member of the team begins consistently practicing the definition of
effective communication described by the team. Be specific in telling
them what they are doing well and why it will benefit the team.
