Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Self-Directed Learning: Ask your coaching target to keep a running
email draft throughout the day. Whenever they think of a good idea or
have a suggestion for someone, they should add it to the email draft (a
notepad, either digital or hand-written, works as well). At the end of the
day, have them send the notes to whomever they were intended for,
and then write down in a journal how the exercise worked for them. Try
it every day for the space between coaching sessions and write down
any additional observations that may have come from the exercise, then
discuss the journal entries at your next coaching session.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Journal-Based Coaching: By using the journal, this person can see
their own path through their Learning Project and reflect on whether or
not they feel it beneficial to their daily routine. Do they notice that they
have more time for their own projects?
→ 30-Second Coaching: Do not extinguish their excitement and great
ideas! Take 30 seconds out of your day to acknowledge a positive idea
or suggestion that the employee provided and let them know why it was
appreciated.
