Professional Emails
Suggested Strategy: Use a Define & Coach strategy to ensure that the
employee understands the expectations that you have for them related
to composing professional emails.
Suggested Questions:
→ Define & Coach: When I say the phrase professional emails , how do
you think you would specifically define it as it relates to your position?
→ Third-Party Question: If we were to ask a client to describe your
current typical email, what do you think they might say?
→ Self-Actualized Question: What actions or strategies are you willing to
take to ensure that you are practicing the definition we just discussed
each time you compose an email?
Suggested Activities:
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down the
description of their current email abilities as they believed a client might
describe it. On the right side of the board, write down the ideal definition
of professional email that you discussed at the beginning of the
conversation. Then, erase the left side of the board and brainstorm
ideas for a strategy for the employee to take each time they compose an
email to ensure that they are following that ideal definition.
