Suggested Activities:
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down all
the noticeable body language that the individual can think of that they
may encounter in a conversation with someone at work, and what each
of those types of body language means. Then, on the right side of the
board, write down the strategies or actions for the individual to take in
addressing each of those types of body language. This will help them
build an arsenal for acknowledging and addressing certain types of
body language as they come up in conversation.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Assign your coaching target to track their
observations of body language in their conversations throughout the
week in a journal. They should note in their journal entries the type of
body language observed, as well as the individual’s strategy or actions
utilized in that situation to address the body language. What was the
outcome of their actions, and were they able to direct the conversationto
address their peer’s body language?
