Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Non-Verbal Coaching: Leave the employee a hand-written note on
their workstation when you observe efforts or improvements made by
them to strengthen their ability to communicate in a timely manner, as
discussed at the beginning of your first coaching session. Be specific in
sharing the actions that you observed and how those actions will not
only benefit the individual in their position, but the team as a whole.
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the employee to track their progress in
a journal throughout the coming weeks as it relates to timely
communication. Check in on their journal entries at each coaching
session and track their progression together. They should include in
their entries their thoughts on their progress, what they feel they are
doing well that particular week, how they organize their communication
strategy, and what they feel they may need to continue to improve.
