→ Role Play: Practice! Facilitate practice sessions to give the individual

an opportunity to apply their skills in a real conversation or transaction.

After the practice session, ask the individual to give themselves

feedback on what they feel they did well, what they think they could

still improve and how they plan to go about improving those things.

Suggested Learning Projects:

→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: This is a great strategy to implement

additional practice for the individual without having to set up a separate

coaching session. Ask the individual to meet with a new peer each

week to practice the skill that you are coaching them to improve. After

each practice session, ask the individual to email you with feedback for

themselves, similar to what you did in your role play activity.

Supplemental Coaching Strategies:

→ 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds to verbally acknowledge

efforts and/or improvements made by the individual in the skill that you

are coaching them to improve. This is a great way to use positive

reinforcement to build their confidence without taking much time or

extraeffort.

→ Observational Coaching: Ask the individual to observe a peer that

excels at the skill that they are building their confidence in. In what ways

do those peers seem confident in that skill? What takeaways from their

observations can they put into practice in building their own skills and

confidence? Discuss these observations at your next coaching session.
