Suggested Strategy: Base your conversation around the employee’s
strengths in order to build confidence around their capabilities.
Suggested Questions:
→ Define & Coach: What do you think being confident in your position
looks like? How would you define the word confidence?
→ Self-Actualized Question: What specific actions will you take to
successfully practice confidence in your daily activities within your
position?
Suggested Activities:
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down
how this person thinks that their peers would currently describe their
level of confidence. On the right side of the board, write down how this
person would ideally like their peers to describe their confidence level at
work. Erase the left side of the board and create a list together of
actions that they will take to reach the description on the right side of
theboard.
→ Role Play: Give the person you are coaching a situation where they
would need to practice confidence, and in a role play scene, have the
employee act through how they would confidently handle the practice
situation.
