→ GOAL-Based Coaching: What is the employee’s ultimate goal in their

career? What does the employee need to become Great at related to

this skill to reach this goal? What Opportunities might present

themselves to the individual as a result of becoming great? What

Actions must the employee take to bring those opportunities within

reach? What will the employee Love about reaching their goals?

Suggested Learning Projects:

→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Assign your coaching target to meet with a

peer once per week (this should be a different peer each week) to

practice the skills they need to improve. After their meeting, the

employee should email you with what they did well, what they could

have improved, and how they will do so for next time.

→ Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the employee to keep a journal in the

coming weeks noting times during theday where they were required to

use the skills that you are coaching them to become confident in. How

did they feel they executed the skillin a real application after practicing?

Did they feel more confident? If not, what do they feel they need to do

differently going forward to become more confident?

Supplemental Coaching Strategies:

→ 30-Second Coaching: Use positive reinforcement to help the

employee know that they are making progress. Take 30 seconds to

verbally acknowledge improvements made by the individual to

become more confident in their skills.
