Fueling an Individual’s Curiosity
Suggested Strategy: Sometimes it is a good thing to have a person on a
team that asks questions, is fueled by curiosity, and reaches beyond
what is directly asked of them. When you have a team full of individuals
that strictly do what they are asked and is not interested in anything
outside of their task list, it is difficult to develop and reach the next level
of performance. Use GOAL-Based Coaching to help the person you are
coaching to analyze their own curiosity and where it could possibly serve
them in their career.
Suggested Questions:
→ Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six representing that
you are curious about each aspect of your job and even beyond your
position and one representing that you do not wish to know anything
outside of your task list, where would you rate yourself and why?
→ Risk Question: What risks do you think might be associated with a lack
of curiosity in your career?
