Professional Development Confidence Building
Suggested Strategy: Sometimes employees need to have professional
development opportunities provided to them/refreshed on their options.
Allow them to see how professional development is tied to confidence
with role plays and goal setting activities.
Suggested Questions:
→ Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six you feel you’re
aware and have taken advantage of professional development
opportunities, and one you feel like you don’t see the benefit and have
rarely taken advantage of them, where would you rate yourself and
why?
→ Risk Question: What risk do you assume by not taking advantage of
professional development opportunities to work on your confidence?
Suggested Activities:
→ GOAL-Based Coaching: Together, come up the employee’s goals and
how they relate to confidence building. G stands for great, O for
opportunity, A action, and L love. By drilling down how these are related
to the overall goal of confidence, the employee will be able to see the
relationship between goal setting and following through with activities
that can support those goals. Then, come up with two specific
professional development opportunities and how they relate to the
overall goal of confidence building.
