→ Brainstorm: Create a list together of the benefits that could come
about both for the individual you are coaching and for the team as a
whole by this person building transparent relationships with their
peers. How can the risks talked about earlier in the conversation be
averted?
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Ask the individual you are coaching to meet
with a different peer each week to discuss each other’s strategy for
being transparent with members of the team. What differences in their
relationships do they observe as a result of being transparent? What
direct benefits does each person notice as a result of being transparent,
both for themselves and for the team? Ask the individual you are
coaching to email you with two things they learned about their peer
because of their conversation, as well as one thing they shared that
they may struggle with that they would not have shared before.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds of your day to positively
reinforce improvement or efforts made by the individual to build
transparent relationships with their peers. Let them know specific
actions that you had observed and how those actions are beneficial.
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Assign your coaching target to keep a
journal noting differences they are observing as their relationships with
their peers evolve and become more transparent.
