Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the individual
to keep a running journalin the coming weeks
with entries noting situations where they had
an awareness of the perception they were
giving to the person they were interacting
with. Have them note the specific actions they
took in those situations to make the
perception a positive one, as well as the
outcome of those particular interactions.
→ Tangible Successes: Have the individual come back to your next
coaching session with three examples of where they were able to use
their awareness of the perception they may have been giving to
someone they were interacting with and how they successfully gave the
perception that they were personable. How did taking action to give that
perception positively alter their interactions?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Non-Verbal Coaching: As the individual makes efforts to become more
personable, take a moment to acknowledge those efforts with a
handwritten card left at their workstation. Let them know in your note
the specific actions they have taken to become more personable and the
effect that their efforts have had on their interactions with others. Share
with them how their actions are appreciated by you and beneficial for
their interactions and relationships at work.
