Suggested Activities:
→ Define & Coach: Discuss the employee’s version of the definition of
complete information retention and discuss what that definition means
as it relates to their job position.
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down
this person’s current strategy for retaining and applying information
learned and how effective they feel that strategy is for them. On the
right side of the board, write down the definition from the Define &
Coach activity. Then, erase the left side of the board and brainstorm a
list together of actions that the employee must take in order to reach
that definition on the right side of the board.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Assign your coaching target to meet with a
peer that you assign once per week to practice the new information
retention strategies that you discussed in your whiteboard activity. The
discussion between the peers should cover how the employee you are
coaching feels they are progressing in retaining new information and
what actions they have taken to improve upon that. They should
practice their strategies with their peer and have their peer give them
feedback, both positive and constructive. Ask the person you are
coaching to email you, copying the peer that they practiced with, and let
you know any improvements they are noticing as well as anything new
that they learned in the session with their peer.
