Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Self-Directed Learning: Assign your coaching target to do one thing
each day to build team morale. These do not have to be big actions that
everyone can see, even the little things can add up over time to raise
team morale, such as showing interest in participating in team events.
They should come back to your next coaching session with the daily
actions they took between coaching sessions as well as any observed
changes in the team and if any of those changes were linked to specific
actions taken by the individual.
→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Ask your coaching target to meet with one
member of the team each week to learn about their strategies for
building team morale. How does each person work within the team itself
to build morale with their peers? What takeaways from their
conversations can they put into practice in their own morale-building
strategies? Have them email you after each of their discussions,
sharing the things they were able to learn from each person, where that
person has found success in their techniques, and what they plan to put
into practice on their own from what they learned.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: As you observe the morale of the team reaching
a higher level due to actions taken by your coaching target, take 30
seconds to verbally acknowledge the specific actions taken to create
this outcome. Share with them why their efforts are appreciated and the
tangible differences in the team’s morale that you have noticed.
