Asking Questions to Clarify Feedback
Suggested Strategy: Help your employee/team develop the skills
necessary to understand and deconstruct feedback in order to process.
This allows clarity and a chance for perspective sharing.
Suggested Questions:
→ Teach Me: Give me a normal response you would provide after
someone gives you feedback. Do you ask any questions, or take the
feedback at face value?
→ Risk Question: What risks do you assume if you don’t clarify feedback
that is given, or follow up with any questions or concerns on your end?
→ Reflection Question: After going through these questions, what did
you learn about yourself from a positive perspective as a result of going
through them? What did you learn about yourself that you now know you
need to keep developing and why? (Give your coaching target a few
minutes to think about their answers to these questions).
