Suggested Learning Projects:

→ Self-Directed Learning: Assign your coaching target to track their

usage of positive language in their daily conversations. They should

come back to your next coaching session with at least five examples of

where they were able to successfully use positive language in their

conversations and were aware of the implementation of that language.

What was the outcome of their positive language usage? Did it help

them on the path toward reaching their goals?

→ Observational Coaching: The person you are coaching should also be

aware of the effects of positive language when used by those around

them. Have them observe their peers throughout the week and note any

positive outcomes because of the integration of positive language by

their peers. What takeaways from their observations can they put into

practice themselves?

Supplemental Coaching Strategies:

→ Non-Verbal Coaching: As the individual integrates positive language

into their interactions with others at work, leave a hand-written note at

their workstation, sharing with them your observations of their specific

efforts, while also letting them know why their actions are appreciated

by you and beneficial for the individual in reaching their goals.
