Sense of Urgency
Suggested Strategy: Your definition of sense of urgency might
differ from that of this person that you are coaching. By setting a
definition that youare both aware of, you can coach to something
that you both understand.
Suggested Questions:
→ Define & Coach: When I say the phrase sense of urgency , what
definition comes to your mind as it relates to your position?
→ Success Imperative: What actions will you take, based on the
definition that we just discussed, to ensure that you successfully
implement that definition in your daily activities at work?
Suggested Activities:
→ Brainstorming: Create a list together of effects that having a greater
sense of urgency could have on this person’s day and how it could
benefit them in their position.
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down
how this person thinks that their current sense of urgency would be
described. On the right side of the board, write down the definition you
had just assigned to having a sense of urgency. Erase the left side of
the board and write down a strategy for the individual to follow to
reach the definition on the right side of the board.
