Suggested Learning Projects:

→ Tangible Successes: Ask the individual to come back to your next

coaching session with three examples of times where they were in a

situation that was outside of their comfort zone. What strategy did they

take to navigate that situation to have a successful outcome? How did

facing that situation help put them closer to reaching their goals?

→ Journal-Based Coaching: There is no doubt that this may be a scary

and obviously uncomfortable process for the individual. Ask them to

keep a journal in the coming weeks to get their thoughts on paper as

they push themselves to get outside of their comfort zone. They should

track in the journal how their efforts in those situations are helping them

to reach their goals and become more comfortable in a variety of

scenarios. They should note times where they felt that they were

becoming more comfortable, as well as times where they still felt

entirely uncomfortable and what they can do to combat that in the

future.

Supplemental Coaching Strategies:

→ Non-Verbal Coaching: When you have the opportunity to observe the

individual bravely navigating a situation that you know is outside of their

comfort zone, share with them the specific efforts made that you had

observed and let them know why those efforts are appreciated.
