Suggested Strategy: By ensuring that all parties are on the same page
with what is expected from a leader-figure through a Define & Coach
Strategy, you can coach to an agreed upon definition which creates a
level of accountability and understanding.
Suggested Questions:
→ Define & Coach: When I say
the phrase strong leader , what
definition would you assign to it?
→ Success Imperative: What
actions do you think you must
take to successfully exhibit the
qualities of a strong leader
based on that definition?
Suggested Activities:
→ Whiteboard Coaching: Based on the definition just discussed, on the
left side of the board write down how the person would currently
describe themselves as a leader. On the right side of the board, write
down the ideal definition just discussed. Erase the left side of the board
and write down actions that this person must take to reach the definition
on the right side of the board. This activity provides a visual for the path
that this person must go down in order to grow as a strong leader.
