→ Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Assign your coaching target to meet with
other coaches in their peer group to discuss strategies for how they build
positive coaching relationships with their own teams. What can the
individual you are coaching take away from these discussions and put
into practice in their own coaching relationships? Discuss their
takeaways and the answers to these questions at your next coaching
session.
→ Tangible Successes: Ask the individual to come back to your next
coaching session with three examples of situations where they felt they
implemented the full definition of building a positive coaching
relationship with someone on their team. What specific strategies did
they take in those situations and what was the outcome? Did they feel
like they were successful, and what could they still improve on?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Non-Verbal Coaching: As the individual puts the defined strategy for
building positive coaching relationships into practice, leave a
handwritten note at their workstation sharing the specific actions taken
by the individual to do so. You should also share with them how those
actions are appreciated by you and beneficial to their team.
