→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down
how this individual currently would describe their strategy in handling
disagreements. On the right side of the board, write down the definition
discussed earlier in the conversation. Then, erase the left side of the
board and brainstorm with the individual the strategy that they must take
to put that definition into practice in their own disagreements.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Tangible Successes: Assign your coaching target to come back to
your next coaching session with three examples of disagreements in the
week where they were able to put the definition discussed into practice.
What specific actions did they take, and what was the outcome of those
actions?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Non-Verbal Coaching: Leave your
coaching target a handwritten note at
their workstation as you observe their
efforts to handle disagreements
effectively based on the definition
discussed at the beginning of your
coaching conversation. Be specific in
sharing with them the actions that you had observed and how those
actions are beneficial to the individual and to the team.
