Being a Courageous Leader
Suggested Strategy: Utilize a Define and Coach strategy by giving the
term “Courageous Leader” a definition. You can then proceed in your
coaching conversations knowing that the expectations are the same
between you and the person you are coaching.
Suggested Questions:
→ Define & Coach: What definition would you assign to the phrase
courageous leader ?
→ Success Imperative: What will you do to successfully practice that
definition with your team?
→ Self-Actualized Question: How might practicing decisiveness help you
in becoming a courageous leader, based on the definition we just
discussed?
Suggested Activities:
→ Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of the board, write down how
this person would currently describe their decisiveness and courage in
their leadership, based on the questions that you just discussed. On the
right side of the board, write down how this person thinks they would
ideally like to be described in their courage and decisiveness as a
leader. Erase the left side of the board and write down the actions that
this person thinks they must take to reach the description that is
currently on the right side of the board.
