Volunteerism
Suggested Strategy: Getting a team to think past their own job roles is a
difficult task that, once achieved, can be a powerful learning tool and
influence for other team members. Use questions and activities that get
them to start the reflection process in a group setting
Suggested Questions:
→ Third-Party Question: If another team could evaluate us based on
thinking past ourselves, what do you think they would say about us?
Why do you think they would say what they would?
→ Risk Question: What specific things hinder you from volunteering?
What risks do you assume by not doing so?
→ Self-Actualized Question: What can we do together to make the
process of volunteering easier and more attainable?
Suggested Activities:
→ GOAL-Based Coaching: Discuss the team’s GOAL s as they relate to
the questions you’ve asked above (Great, Opportunity, Action, Love) as
it relates to making a positive impact as a team. What can you all do
together to make those goals attainable?
→ Define & Coach: Come up with shared definitions of your team’s goals
and nail down corresponding behaviors required to reach those goals.
One person’s definition of being helpful may be someone else’s bare
minimum.
