Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Observational Coaching: Ask the individual to observe their peers as
they engage in conversations with others in the office. What were the
differences they observed between conversations where high levels of
interpersonal skill were implemented and conversations where the level
of interpersonal skill wasn’t quite as high? In those interactions with
high levels of interpersonal skill, what strategies or takeaways from their
observations can the individual you are coaching put into practice in
their own interactions?
→ 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds of your day to verbally
acknowledge the efforts made by the individual you are coaching to
improve their interpersonal skills. Be specific in sharing the actions
taken that you had observed and let them know why those actions
are beneficial to the individual as they work toward the goals
discussed earlier.
