Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Observational Coaching: Ask the employee to observe their peers
throughout the coming week. What do their peers do well in practicing
professionalism and what can be improved? What takeaways from their
observations can they put into practice in their own professional habits?
→ Self-Directed Learning: Assign the employee to read the book The 7
Habits of Highly Effective People , one chapter per week. At the end of
each week, have them email you with their takeaways from that week’s
chapter as they apply to professionalism – these should be things that
the employee can put into practice in their own professional habits.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds to verbally acknowledge
improvement in this person’s professionalism. Be specific in sharing
what actions you have observed from this person that are making a
difference in your perception of their professionalism.
