Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Self-Directed Learning: Have your coaching target read The 7 Habits
of Highly Effective People , one chapter per week. The employee should
write in a journal two takeaways from each chapter that they could be
implementing in completing their daily tasks and how he/she plans to
make those adjustments. Have them bring their notes to your next
coaching session.
→ Journal-Based Coaching: Ask your coaching target to keep a journal
noting times throughout the day where they find him/herself in a
potentially distracting situation. How do they respond? Do they find
themselves to take the distracting route or keep their head down and
focused? Have them bring the journal entries to your next coaching
session for discussion.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds to verbally acknowledge
improvements made in your coaching target’s time management
abilities. Be specific in sharing actions they have taken to make these
improvements and let them know how their actions are beneficial to
their success.
