→ Brainstorming: List together unpredictable situations where the
individual must become more comfortable. Build a strategy together for
the individual to approach situations such as those and how they can
prepare for unpredictability
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Self-Directed Learning: As the individual goes about their work week,
ask them to track situations where unpredictability is likely to be a factor.
They should then create strategies for being prepared in those situations
to become more comfortable with unpredictable outcomes.
→ Tangible Successes: Ask the individual to come back to your next
coaching session with three examples of situations where the individual
felt that they were able to practice becoming more comfortable with
unpredictability. What strategy did they take on in those situations to
become more comfortable?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
→ Non-Verbal Coaching: Send a hand-written note home with the
individual upon observing that the individual has become more
comfortable in situations with unpredictable outcomes. Be specific in
sharing the actions taken by the individual in those situations and how
those actions are appreciated by you.
