Suggested Activities:
→ Practice: Work with the individual to analyze situations that they have
encountered recently in which something unexpected or unplanned
required their attention. Help them to decide where that situation ranked
on their priority scale in relation to the things they already have built in.
How could they have adjusted their schedule to address whatever came
up or could they have put it off until a later time?
→ Discussion: Work with the individual to take a look at their daily schedule and have them prioritize each event in order from most
important and must be addressed no matter what all the way down to
things that may not be important or might even be more of a distraction
than they are productive. Help them build their schedule to revolve
around the most important tasks, leaving space for those less important
things or time that they can borrow from when something unexpected
comes up. Then, work with them to create a system for shifting things
that can be addressed at a later time.
Suggested Learning Projects:
→ Tangible Successes: Have the individual come back to your next
coaching session with three examples of situations where they were
able to successfully navigate an adjustment that needed to be made for
something unexpected or unplanned that required their attention. What
specific actions did they take in that situation to maintain balance and
prioritization in their day?
