doesn’t scold at all. You must ask in faith, however, nothing wavering. While the Bible never records our Lord’s ever rebuking the disciples for asking, we do find instances where He rebuked them for not be lieving. There are many restless Christians who are described in Ephesians as being carried about with every wind of doctrine. The doubter will receive confusing advice from men, but he will receive noth ing from the Lord. Why do we doubt God? What right do we have for believing that God does not possess all wisdom and that He will not in struct us at all times? In this, as in IF GOD FORGOT if God forgot the world, forgot for just one day. Forgot to send the sunshine and change the night to day; Forgot to makes the flowers grow, for got the birds and bees; Forgot to send the sweetness of the south wind in the trees; Forgot to give us friendships, forgot to send us rain; Forgot to give the children play, for got to soften pain; What would happen to the world and us? Would we still be gay If God should forget— forget for just one day? every other area of life, it is all de termined by our relationship, our fellowship with Jesus Christ. He is not only our Saviour from sin but also our strength in life. To know Him, and to walk with Him is to know life eternal, both in this world and in the world to come. The an swer to all our need is Christ Him self. To reject or to refuse Him is the greatest tragedy which can be fall man. May God grant that we may all, without exception, realize that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” May we rush to Jesus Christ for refuge and shel ter from every threatening storm of life! 22
Revival times always have been marked by the ministry of men who prayed without ceasing. Tragically, however, we live in a day when the program of the church is exalted and the prayer meeting forgotten. Every where men look for new efforts, new techniques, new gimmicks. Organiza tion is on the throne. Inspiration is sorely lacking as is evidenced by lack of real results in lives which should show forth the fruit of the Spirit. Too bad that we have forgotten that our strength is in quietness and con fidence. Our lives are not saintly be cause they are not saturated with supplication. We somehow have lost the holy art of being still, knowing that God is God. As a result, our generation passes by without hear ing a word of the Saviour. No won der there is such agony and dilemma in the church today. When we walk in Christ, we walk in wisdom. At a meeting of out standing churchmen and scientists, a paper was read from a man recog nized as a real authority in his field. He declared, “In their struggle for the ethical good, teachers of religion must have the stature to give up the doctrine of a personal God.” Now, without question this man was a genius in knowledge. He possessed one of the greatest minds in the his tory of the world. At the same time, however, he didn’t speak with any show of true wisdom. Imagine say ing that we should give up the idea of a personal God! It was the Psalm ist who rightly pointed out, “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” What is the secret of wisdom and how do we get it? Ask in faith, noth ing wavering.” God will never chide you for your foolishness in not knowing. He never says, “You’ve made your bed, now go ahead and lie in it.” If you are still outside the grace of God today, you need not fear coming to Him for forgiveness through the blood of Christ. He
