mutation or weariness. “We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” The wicked dead shall not be raised until the end of the thousand years of the reign of Christ upon the earth. “The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished.” Rev. 20:5. The Holy Spirit will no doubt be the active agency in taking the blood washed throng into the air to meet Jesus Christ. When He, the Holy Spirit, leaves with the Church, then all restraint shall have been removed from the earth, and wild, frenzied, blood thirsty anarchy and nihilism will shake this world from one end to the other. Hear me, ye pusillanimous peace propagandists! The present European war is a mere Sunday- school program, or sham battle compared to what shall yet be seen upon this earth. Poor, proud, vain, rich, arrogant, prayerless, back slidden America! Your partnership with the liquor traffic, and your rejection of Christ shall yet be punished! “The mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only there is One that restraineth now, until He be taken out of the way. And then shall be revealed the lawless one (the man of sin, the son of perdition) whom the Lord Jesus shall consume with the breath of His mouth.” 2 Thess. 2 :7-8. The Holy Spirit is the One that restrain eth at the present time. When He leaves this world—woe to the inhabitants of the earth! Jesus said: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the be ginning of the world until now, no nor ever shall be.” Matt. 24:21. Daniel’s testimony may be entered on the same subject: “There shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that same time.” Dan. 12 : 1 . Then the bloodhounds of lust will be turned loose, and the dream of free-love ex ponents, and other criminals will become a reality. Impurity will reach its highest tide of world-wide debauchery of virtue, and the
home life of Christianity will be unknown. With science perfecting the “Twilight Sleep” and other methods of painless child birth, and the State caring for the children, and universal infamy running rampant, I tell you brethren, the world is fast rushing on to chaos, and moral decay. Human government will become the target of er ratic socialism, communism, and infidel nihilism with its bald atheism will finish the work of destroying the place of the apostate churches, while the property will be confiscated, and general opposition shall show itself toward anything having a form of godliness. The Saviour tells us that when He calls for His saints two men shall be in the field, one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill, and one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in bed, the one taken and the other left. Matt 24:40-41; Luke 17:34. THE COMING SHOCK. In conclusion: It is well for us to con template the shock to the entire world, when Christ shall call His saints away from their homes and places of business. Men will be swept with tides of nerve-racking fear. So ciety will be frightfully disorganized. Busi ness will feel the shock. To awake and find your loved ones gone forever beyond your reach or grasp, to realize the line of cleavage, the eternal separation as a grim reality. Wife gone, children gone, mother gone, husband gone, faithful pastor gone, every Godly man and woman GONE! I have no desire to remain in the world with lawlessness running like the whirlpool rap ids of Niagara. God awaken you unre generated people and call you to repent ance ! When we were in an Ohio city a man awoke about two o’clock one morning and found that his wife was missing. Her cloth ing all lay just as she had left it. He gave the alarm, and officers and friends joined in the search, and along about two o’clock in the afternoon they found her demented, out two miles in the country under a tree, clad only in her night garments.
