No praise, no titles of honor, no popular ity with any class of men, no participation in any form of human glory, political, so cial, commercial, or ecclesiastical, is prom ised the faithful messenger of this King. And the persecution is not because he preaches the. Gospel of God’s Grace, not be cause he holds correct views of Truth, but because he “would live godly in Christ Jesus." It is not theories of dead doctrine the world hates, but the Christ Life, the meekness and lowliness, the compassion for sinners, the absence of “form or comeli ness,” etc .—A Missionary, in Mexico. GOD HEARS AND ANSWERS. 1. “But when they in their trouble did turn unto Jehovah God of Israel, and sought him, he was pound of them " (2 Chron. 15:4). 2. “The eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry ” (Psa. 34:15). 3. “And it shall come to pass, that be fore they call, I will answer ; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear ” (Isa. 65:24). 4. “Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words WERE HEARD, and I AM COME FOR THY words " (Dan. 10:12). 5. “Then they that feared Jehovah spake often one to another: and J ehovah heark ened , and heard it , and a book of remem brance was written before him for them that thought upon his name” (Mai. 3:16). 6. “And I say unto you, A sk , and it shall BE GIVEN you ; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Luke 11:9).

THE KING’S BUSINESS. 1 Who is the King? Rev. 19:16. (a) Son of the Highest, Luke 1 :32. (b) Son of David, Luke 1:32, 33. 2. What is His business ? Luke 2 :49. (a) To proclaim amnesty to repentant rebels, because the King has expiated their crimes, Luke 24:47. (b) To offer eternal life, with all the privileges of royal sonship, 1 John 5:11, 12; Rom. 8:16,17. 3. Who are His messengers ? 2 Cor. S:20. (a) Chosen by Himself, John 15:16, 19. (b) Never man’s choice, 1 Cor. 1 :27-29. 4. What the equipment? Gal. 1:1. (a) .Unlimited credit on Bank of Heaven, John 14:13, 14. (b) The Holy Spirit—the King’s own glory, John 17:22 ; Acts 1 :8. Not a course of training, 1 Cor. 2 :l-5, 12, 13 ; not human credentials, Gal. 1:12, 15-17 ; not carnal weapons, 2 Cor. 10:3-5. There is not a single promise that the Holy Spirit will breathe power upon any kind of man-in vented machinery. In type, in example, in direct statement, it is everywhere taught that He can only manifest His glory when the human touch is withdrawn, Ex. 40 : 34, 35; 2 Chron. 5:11-14; 2 Cor. 12:9, 10; Phil. 3 :7, 8. Yet all human teachers cling to the idea that they can, at least, help to polish the instrument, and thus add efficiency to the Spirit’s work. 5. What is the recompense? Heb. 11:26. (a) In this present age, rejection, John 15:9; persecution, 2 Tim. 3:12; reproach* Matt. 5:11, 12; contempt, 1 Cor. 4:13; mar tyrdom, John 16:2; with the Companionship of the King, Matt. 28:20. (b) In the age to come, participation in the King’s glorious reign, 2 Tim. 2:12; 1 John 3 :2.
