Geo. W. Hunter, Representative.

T HE classes which have been conducted under the auspices of the Extension Department at Sacramento and Stockton, were closed for the summer the latter part of June, and work begun July 1 at the booth which the Bible Institute is maintaining at the Panama-Pacific Exposition. The Institute has a real comfortable booth, with chairs, table, phonograph and literature table, located in the concession of the Federated Council of Church, in the Educational Building, where the represen tative will be glad to welcome any friends of the Institute at any time they may choose to call. The work has already been mightily bless ed of God. Several thousand pieces of lit erature, tracts and Gospels have been dis tributed to inquirers, and received with such appreciation as to prove that there are everywhere thirsty souls to be reached. It has been the privilege of the represen tative to give Bible study lessons to several hungry-hearted people. One young man from Alabama was so eager for Bible study that he wanted to buy everything on the subject we had. Other inquirers were given sets of Bible study lessons with the one stipulation that the lessons Were to be studied, which was in each instance heartily agreed to. It is our purpose, before the close of the exhibit, to sow the seed in the hearts and minds of a multitude of unsaved men and women and lead some of them to a knowl edge of God through Jesus Christ, His Son. Friends of the Institute have generously contributed large quantities of literature for

free distribution—one man having sent a hundred dollars worth of “anti-ism” liter ature for this purpose. There are over twenty different “cults” represented in the building, each of them working zealously to propagate their pernicious teachings—one, the so-called “Star of the East,” giving public lectures all day to from two to twenty people at a time, their booth being usually filled with a curious throng of wo men and a few men, Russellism has a representative, who stands in the aisle and argues from morning till evening with all who will listen to or contend with him. Christian Science has a magnificent booth fitted up with every com fort possible for those who will listen to its siren call, and no doubt will sweep in a good many of the curious who “nibble” at their bait. Swedenborgianism is here with its attrac tive spiritualizing of everything. “The New Jerusalem is here,” says their representa tive, and it too is finding responsive people, for there are many who desire only this world and want to be assured by someone that it is just what God would have it now. Hundreds of people from almost every State in the Union pass the booth daily, and many have already registered their names, some asking for literature to be sent to them at their homes, others asking for in formation about the Institute work, still others desiring to know more about Bible study. The opportunity for definite work is great. We ask the prayers of all God’s people in this time of privilege and opportunity.
