■ Career achievements: Co-ordinated the implementation of technical assistance on special economic zones’ (SEZ) policies in Africa. Designed and set up the capacity building of nearly 1,000 senior officials and policy makers from six member states of the United Nations, which resulted in experience sharing on best practices, particularly in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). As Programme Manager at the AEZO, collaborated with the African Union (AU) on the 2019 annual meeting. The stronger working relationship led to more involvement of the economic zones in the AU and later the AfCFTA secretariat projects, including engaging the different SEZ stakeholders in drafting the agreement’s regulations on SEZs. Oversaw the recruitment of AEZO members, resulting in an increase of 25% reach of the association footprint across the continent, and its first income from members’ financial contributions. Conceived the association’s activities with effective liaison with members and international organisations, including a capacity building programme which was 80% funded from donors and partners.
