Objectives: 1. To stimulate a discussion of current and future changes at the Air Force and the extent to which these changes are likely to produce desired outcomes. 2. To consider alternative frameworks that can be used to plan, implement, and evaluate change in organizations. 3. To apply frameworks and tools for leading change in a simulated organization in order to translate general principles into specific tactics and decisions. 4. Apply lessons to your work experience Pre-readings : 1. Change Theory: Change Management Best Practice in a Concise Primer (outlines themodel to use in the simulation). 2. Player’s Guide: GlobalTech (case study and tactics for the ExperienceChange simulation). 3. Stakeholder Interviews & Stakeholder Mapping Tool . Suggestions for Preparation : 1. Read simulation materials. This is v ery important preparation for the simulation. (Otherwise you will run out of time during the session.) o Scan the Change Theory and Player’s Guide documents o Read Stakeholder Interviews carefully to determine: • What is the root cause of the problem and • Whether the interviewee will be a resister, bystander, helper or champion during your change initiative. o Complete and bring to the session the Stakeholder Mapping Tool. 2. Reflect on your situation o What are some of the major changes underway within the Air Force? What has prompted these changes? Which changes are going smoothly, and which changes are stalled or running into resistance? What can be done to facilitate the changes you see? o Reflect on your personal experiences with change, both as a leader and a participant of change.
