MOVING IN, UP, AND ON MOVING IN RAYMOND CHRISMAN, 3rd Grade Co-Lead Teacher
Raymond joined the Cathedral School faculty in 2020 after taking time off from teaching to be a stay-at-home dad with his two daughters. He graduated from Yale College in 1989 with a BA in English Language and Literature and holds Master’s degrees in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Lesley College. He completed the Shady Hill School Teacher Training Course in 1995. Subsequently, he taught third and fourth grade for ten years at public schools in Concord, MA, and in Burlingame and Atherton, CA. When he’s not teaching, Mr. Chrisman loves to spend time with his family, play the piano, read, ride his bike, and referee youth soccer games. MARCELL DEBARROS, 4th Grade Assistant Marcell is the new 4th-grade Teaching Assistant, joining us from San Francisco Friends School where he was the 5th-grade assistant teacher. He graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Psychology and Masters in Education. His educational passion is fueled by discovering ways in which all his students can feel they belong in the classroom. A Southern California native who loves the beach and enjoys running and dancing, Marcell is also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese as he has cultural and familial ties to Brazil. During his time off, you can find him eating, reading, sitting in the (elusive) sun, or all three at once. SAM DOSSICK, Assistant Athletic Director and Upper School PE Sam Dossick joined Cathedral School for Boys in 2021. Prior to joining CSB, he was the Middle School PE teacher and 7th grade advisor at the Brandeis School of San Francisco. Mr. Dossick earned a Communications degree at Cal State Northridge and proceeded to get his Physical Education credential at National University. Outside of work he enjoys traveling, watching and playing sports, exercising, and spending time with his family. BRANDON JOSEPH, Art Teacher Brandon Joseph became Cathedral’s art teacher at the end of his interim position in 2021. As a cradle Episcopalian, Mr. Joseph’s last position within the denomination was as resident artist at Saint John in the Wilderness Cathedral, Denver. He came to us by way of Aspen, Colorado where he was the Music and Theatre Director for Aspen Country Day School and served on the Board of Directors for Aspen Community Theatre, and was also a member of the Aspen Music School and Institute. When he’s not developing new curriculum and creatively designing ways to learn, Mr. Joseph enjoys cooking, dancing, and hitting up local farmer’s markets with his husband José and their loyal pup, Tobi. JACQUELINE KURZER, Director of Lower School Jacqueline Kurzer has joined Cathedral as the Director of Lower School. A native San Franciscan, Mrs. Kurzer attended Barnard College where she studied Psychology and Education. Prior to joining CSB, she held key administrative roles in schools and nonprofits such as Marin Horizon School, San Francisco University High School, Breakthrough Collaborative, and Aim High. She has a passion for books, cooking, and getting outdoors with her husband Harrison and son Theodore.
