Space for Every Type of Kid at CSB
to those who joined in other grades, we share some pretty incredible memories together. Here are a few of my favorites. On our Grade 7 Outdoor Ed trip, we went whitewater rafting, and although it was thrilling to be swept up upon the rapids, one of the more memorable parts of the trip was during the bus rides. Instead of talking to the person next to us, or sleeping for the whole ride, we sang for hours and hours and even made it from 100 to 1 in the bottles of beer on the wall song. We’ve had camping trips where we ran around at night with glow sticks and played soccer and baseball. We’ve had parties since Grade 4, which were the best; there were pancakes, waffles with chocolate chips, apple cider, and music and dancing activities. It was a great time. We celebrated championships and cried over losses. We bonded together through video games to stay connected during COVID. We created beautiful art, from painting pumpkins inspired by Yayoi Kusama, to street art and graffiti. We battled it out on stage during our Star Wars play in Shakespearean language and danced our hearts out as newsies. I will forever remember these memories, and I hope we will all cherish them forever. If you know me, then you know me. If you kind of know me, it’s probably as the kid with the red wraparound glasses holding on to his Winnie the Pooh stuffie in Kindergarten, or the kid who quite literally lives right across the road and gained his independence when he was finally allowed to walk to school by himself when he was 12. My name is Yuv Shamdasani, and first I’d like to acknowledge my incredible classmates. Our class has been known for our strong values, our kindness, our respect for others, our work ethic, and our athletics. Shout-out to our Red basketball team, who terrified every other team in San Francisco with their 50 wins and just three losses over the past three years — a truly incredible feat. Through our friendships, daily interactions, and experiences, I’ve learned that there’s space for every type of kid here at CSB. Our different strengths and personalities complement each other and make us better and stronger together. From those of us who have been here since Kindergarten,
