excelling in athletics, crushing your extracurriculars, you, the Class of 2024, branded yourselves with greatness. And as we all know, the hardest thing to do in life is to sustain that greatness. I left that huddle, exhausted, nervous, and scared. I didn’t know how you would respond. But to no one’s surprise, you turned the corner,
it go beyond an engraved plaque on the walls in the hallway going down to Mr. Corrigan’s room? I’m in Advisory, and we list how you, as the Class of 2024, want to be remembered. What is your legacy? We get the same answers every year: kind, funny … whatever. But what got me is when a number of you in our Advisory said you wanted to be remembered as being one of the most diverse classes to graduate from CSB. I’ve been told that this is in fact one of the most diverse classes to graduate from here. Racially, ethnically, socio-economically, y’all make it work. You don’t just make it work, you thrived. If we as adults can take a page from y’all, I believe we’d be in a better place. But it transcends the physical differences. It goes past the demographics, the boxes, the surveys. I don’t just speak for myself. I believe that, on behalf of all the teachers that had the pleasure of teaching you, of being a part of your growth, that
“Nothing is given. Everything is earned. Hard work pays off. Hawks on me. Hawks on 3. One, two, three, Hawks!”
rallied as a class, and had the best P.E. class you’ve ever had. On top of that, y’all nominated me for Good Samaritan that week. It’s the small details like that that ring loudly in my history book. The coachability, the application of the advice that we give, seeing you live it, and the gratitude that comes from that accountability; that’s what inspires me. And you all — each and every one of you — are nothing short of inspirational. Flash forward to the middle of the year. One of the big things we try to drive home in Grade 8 is the concept of legacy.
