TANNER F. HINES This past fall, Tanner played football for the Westminster Wildcats. The team went on to win Georgia’s AAA State Championship for the first time since 1978. It was a huge day for him personally, as all the hard work of a grueling six-month football season bore the ultimate prize: a state championship in a state dominated by football. As underdogs throughout the playoffs, the Wildcats were picked to lose, and were ‘outmatched’ by teams laden in Division 1 football talent. Yet the Wildcats managed to plow their way through the playoffs to make school and state history. His team was the first team in state history to win seven straight ‘win or go home’ games on the road. Tanner will carry this experience throughout his life. (Tanner is number 56)

CHARLES FREDERICK LOWREY October 27, 1927 – August 9, 2016 Charles (Charlie) Lowrey was a member of one of the ‘founding’ families of Cathedral School for Boys. His wife, Mimi, was very involved with starting Cathedral School and she remains one of the school’s three Lifetime Trustees. Although a class member of Town School’s first graduating class, Charlie was a constant source of support for the initiatives that have shaped Cathedral School for Boys. His warmth, friendliness, generosity, and kindness towards all helped create the welcoming and inclusive spirit of our community. Charlie was an avid photographer who took and sent many photographs to people throughout his life. His family has suggested that you send a favorite photo to someone as a way to honor his life.

Mr. Lowrey is pictured in the center with his daughter Mary, son Charles Jr. ’71, wife Mimi, and Alan Gregory ’70 at CSB’s Alumni Day 2011.
