tackling really vulnerable topics. Not only did the speakers feel comfortable enough sharing some hard topics, but those of us in the audience were receptive and supportive. When I heard one of the talks I started to tear up, not only for how incredible the speech was, but to see all of us go up to the speaker at the end and give him a hug. I am part of a couple communities outside of CSB, but none of them put nearly as much of an effort into making each other feel safe. Some of us have spent nine fun, long, emotional, and important years with each other. For those of us that came later, it feels as though you have been here the whole time! Yes, we fought and had our arguments, but we laughed A LOT and most importantly at the end of the day we all feel safe and dare I say, like family! For that I am very grateful. Now for the incoming eighth grade and anyone that’ll hear a chapel talk I urge you to go up and help calm them and always work hard to understand what others are feeling.
In closing, I am incredibly proud to say my class embodies these three qualities, but we couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone in our lives. Our teachers for pushing us, encouraging us, and being there for us when we inevitably slip up doing it all through humor and a smile. Our parents and families for giving us the opportunity to attend this wonderful school, nurturing us, and giving us the support to go into this next chapter confidently and knowing we always have someone in our corner. I hope you all remember us not only for being a LOUD class in the hallways thundering down to lunch or recess, or the ones always on the receiving end of Mr. Mundy’s admonishments but rather, the class who was resilient, who built strong connec- tions and camaraderie, and who felt safe being vulnerable and who they really are. We feel so lucky to have been part of this incredible school and community and we will miss you all! Go Hawks!
RASHOD COTTON Upper School PE Teacher
BEFORE I BEGIN, THERE ARE A COUPLE OF THANK YOU’S I MUST SAY. I want to thank CSB for being a great school and constantly trying to grow and change to make our students' learning and social experiences genuinely memorable. Next, I want to thank the administration for making sure the business aspect of our school runs smoothly, and you do an excellent job at that. The checks are always on time. Thank you. I want to thank the teachers. It is not easy helping to raise young boys when they are transi- tioning into being young men. It takes a lot of patience, love, and skills to do this job. Thank you. Thank you to all the staff members at CSB who feed us and keep our school environment clean and safe daily. Finally, parents and guardians, y’all created strong, thoughtful, funny, ambitious boys who can also be lazy, aggravating, and frustrating. As a fellow parent, I am sure we have all wanted to pull a Homer Simpson at some point. It is so hard raising children in this day and age with all the access these boys have to the world, so feel thankful and blessed
because you have done a great job so far. They say it takes a village, and the CSB community is a substantial village. Thank you to everyone who had any part in raising these boys. It's been awesome to watch you all grow up and mature in the way you all have. I have a lot of admiration for this class. I have been able to sit back and watch you build a true brotherhood; you guys have developed trust, care, and respect for each other. You genuinely want to
see each other win. The relationships you formed came together in a real way this year. During all three sports seasons, your class collectively advanced to championship games, winning two out of three; as a coach, I know that is not an easy task. It takes something special in a class to do it three times; during a school year, maybe a team is good at soccer, they struggle during basketball season, and then they have no clue how to play volleyball so that season is
