R&G: What would you do if you weren’t at CSB? CG: For now, I am most looking forward to volunteering in the library at my daughter’s school. R&G: What was your favorite lunch menu item? CG: Chicken coconut curry, pasta primavera, any of the roasted vegetables, and coconut cake! R&G: What was your favorite CSB activity or event? CG: The faculty retreat and Lessons and Carols. R&G: What is next for you? CG: For now, I will catch up on life and take care of myself for a bit. But I have a lot of ideas in the works, most of them involving kids, reading, and families!
R&G: Do you remember what your first day was like?
Red&Gold: When did you start working at CSB? Courtney Graham: 2007. R&G: What were you doing before you began teaching here?
CG: I don’t, but I remember that during my first few months, I didn’t know my way around the staircases and would hang back a couple of steps when “leading” my class around. At some point, two boys towards the front of my line said, “You don’t know your way around here, do you?” R&G: What did you like best about working at CSB? CG: Students have always been the thing that makes teaching joyful, but at CSB, I also really loved the other teachers. R&G: Which colleagues made the biggest impact on you? CG: All of the faculty and staff have been impactful. Some of us have experienced 15 years of life together (marriages, graduations, job changes, deaths, becoming parents, Covid). The bonds are strong.
CG: I taught 1st and 2nd Grade in Laguna Beach for 15 years before I moved to San Francisco. R&G: How many years did you work at CSB? CG: 2007-2022 R&G: What roles did you have at CSB? CG: 2nd Grade Teacher, Reading Specialist, Learning Support Coordinator, Kindergarten Teacher, First Grade Teacher.
