NATS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN 2025 AFTER WINS AGAINST CORNWALL, NEPEAN

With back-to-back wins last weekend, one at home and one on the road, the Rockland Nationals remain unbeaten in 2025. Since the start of the new year, Rockland has reeled off three consecutive wins against the Smiths Falls Bears, the Cornwall Colts, and the Nepean Raiders, maintaining their position as the top team in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). Offensive clinic against the Colts The Nats welcomed the Cornwall Colts to Rockland on Friday, January 10, with a raucous and energetic crowd on hand to witness the matchup. James Marshall led the way for the home team, notching a hat trick (his third, fourth, and fifth goals of the season) in a dominant 7-3 win over the visiting team from Cornwall. Mathis Baril, Gabriel Le Houillier, Coben Bryan, and Danel Myloserdnyy also scored for Rockland. Marshall added an assist and was named the game’s first star. Nationals forward Jacob Charron contributed three assists and earned second-star honours. James Marshall, fresh off his hat trick against the Colts, scored again—his sixth goal of the 2024-2025 CCHL season—which proved to be the game-winner in Rockland’s 4-1 victory over the home squad. Gabriel Le Houillier also scored for the second straight game, while Raphael Tellier
and Guillaume Labre each added goals for Rockland. Netminder Sean Hogan was named the game’s second star after stop- ping 34 of 35 shots to secure the victory. Friday, January 17. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. After 34 games played, the Nats sit atop the CCHL standings with 57 points. They have 28 wins this season and have scored 144 goals, second in the league. Rockland has allowed a league-low 78 goals and boasts the CCHL’s best penalty kill percen- tage at press time (85.2 per cent).

Glengarry-Prescott-Russell sera officiellement renommée Prescott-Russell-Cumberland. Pas de réélection en vue M. Drouin a annoncé l’an dernier qu’il ne briguerait pas un quatrième mandat, respectant l’engagement qu’il avait pris envers sa femme lorsqu’il s’est lancé dans le monde exigeant et très médiatisé de la politique fédérale. Âgé de 40 ans, M. Drouin a été élu pour la première fois en tant que représentant GÊEÊSBMEFDFUUFDJSDPOTDSJQUJPOEFM&TUEF l’Ontario en 2015. « J’ai dit à ma femme que si je devais faire cela [entrer en politique], je partirais après huit à douze ans », a-t-il déclaré. « Si je devais me présenter à nouveau, cela dépasserait ce cadre. Cette vie est difficile pour les familles : je dois être à tellement d’endroits le soir et les week-ends. J’utilise toujours l’analogie du hockey pour dire qu’il faut savoir quand entrer sur la glace et quand en sortir. Il était temps de quitter la glace. » M. Drouin, père d’un garçon de cinq ans, a déclaré qu’il était sûr à 80 % de ne pas se représenter après les élections fédérales de 2021. Il a informé le premier ministre Justin Trudeau de sa décision de quitter la politique fédérale le 21 mars 2024. M. Drouin est actuellement secrétaire parlementaire du ministre de l’Agriculture et de l’Agroalimentaire, Lawrence MacAulay.

Le conseil municipal de Clarence- Rockland, composé de neuf membres (le maire et huit conseillers de quartier), a été établi lors de l’amalgamation de Clarence- Rockland en 1997. Depuis, la population de la Cité est passée d’environ 18 633 habitants (recensement de 1996) à 26 505 (recensement de 2021). Le processus de révision des quartiers comprend plusieurs étapes clés, notamment la collecte des thèmes et considérations de base, les entretiens avec les cadres supérieurs et les membres du conseil, ainsi que la mobilisation de la communauté et des parties prenantes. Les informations recueillies serviront à évaluer les limites actuelles des quartiers et à explorer d’éven- tuelles alternatives. Les recommandations issues de cette analyse devraient être présentées au conseil au printemps 2025. Toute modification des limites des quartiers entrerait en vigueur pour les élections municipales d’octobre 2026.
La dernière réunion du conseil municipal de 2024 a offert aux conseillers municipaux de Clarence-Rockland un sujet important à examiner alors qu’ils se préparent pour la nouvelle année et les élections municipales de 2026. Lors de la dernière réunion de l’année, le 11 décembre, les conseillers ont reçu une présentation sur une révision des limites des quartiers, livrée par la firme de consultants Watson & Associates. Le Dr Robert Williams, consultant en affaires publiques et expert en systèmes électoraux municipaux, travaille avec Watson & Associates sur ce projet pour Clarence- Rockland. Lors de la présentation, il a souligné qu’une révision des arrangements électoraux peut garantir une représentation équitable et donner aux communautés une voix équitable dans les processus de prise de décision.

La Cité organise trois consultations publiques la semaine prochaine et encou- rage les résidents à assister à l’une des trois séances, qui se dérouleront sur deux jours. La 33e édition de la campagne des lutins de Noël de Valoris a établi un nouveau record grâce à la générosité de la communauté de Prescott et Russell. Le matin de Noël, 753 enfants et ado- lescents se sont réveillés pour trouver des cadeaux qui les attendaient sous leur sapin. Le succès de la campagne de cette année met en lumière les efforts collectifs et l’esprit communautaire des habitants de Prescott et Russell. Les familles de la région ont pu profiter d’une fête de Noël inoubliable grâce à cette initiative. « Nous sommes profondément recon- naissants envers la Fondation Valoris, nos équipes et nos partenaires communautaires pour leur engagement sans faille et leur travail acharné, qui ont permis à cette cam- pagne de briller une fois de plus. Grâce à vos dons, à la distribution de cadeaux et aux nombreuses actions menées dans la région, nous avons réussi à apporter des sourires sur le visage de plusieurs centaines d’enfants de Prescott-Russell », a exprimé Caroline Granger, directrice générale de Valoris. The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) is set to launch an ambitious new sports program in 2025, called All-In Sports, aimed at expan- ding athletic opportunities for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 across Prescott-Russell, and Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry.
