Robert J. Nooney received the Martin Guterman Award at Tufts University. The Martin Guterman Award, in memory of Marty Guterman, beloved faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, is awarded to the first-year or second-year student with the highest academic achievement in mathematics to encourage further study in that field. John C. Pollak spent last year on a gap year, where his dad JC reports that among other adventures, he took a three-month mountaineering, survival, and kayaking class in Patagonia. Parker R. Whitcomb Mom Michelle reports that Parker is majoring in biology at Oberlin College, and is also a goalkeeper on the soccer team there. Benjamin T. Wong spent the fall semester of his freshman year at USC studying at Franklin University in Lugano, Switzerland. CLASS of 2015 Congrats to Peter Coholan, Ian Curry, Maxx Kominowski, Chase Leffers, Stephen Magowan, Baxter Spark, who all earned their Eagle Scout badges this year! CLASS of 2018 Wesley Boatwright’s Mom Joy writes: “Wesley is doing great and is incredibly happy at school. He rowed crew this fall and is also writing for the school paper, The Choate News.” ALUMNI TOGETHER Cooper Kistler ’18 and Baker Morton ’18 came by the School during their winter break from boarding school and spent some time catching up with their kindergarten little brothers. Charlie Crawford ’11 and Austin Pohlman ’11 reconnected at a choir festival this year. Not only are Jonah Fleishhacker ’14, Gibson Morris ’14, and Liam Puknys ’14 all attending the University of Chicago together (along with fellow CSB classmate Maxwell Cohen), they’re also all members of singing groups there! Here are the three boys after a Glee Club performance last fall. Niraj Desai ’15, Luca Angerleri ’15, and Cameron Freeman ’15 visited campus over their spring break and caught up with a few teachers, including their former Mandarin teacher, Mr. Chou.

Christian K. Bolles Mom Heidi reports: ”Christian is moving to Washington, D.C. where he’ll be working at the State Department. He will do some freelance writing projects while he waits for his security clearance, which could take six months. He will eventually be in the Global From Mom Susan: “Henry is living in Amman, Jordan where he runs a youth entrepreneurship boot camp for the Middle East youth population.” CLASS of 2012 Partnerships group.” Henry F. Keenan Simon McGahey is entering his senior year at Cal, where he is majoring in Political Economy. Over his winter break he visited the School, where he caught up with his former teachers like Ms. Hilbrich Sheppard. Ross Nagelson , who will be a senior at Humboldt State University in the fall, spent this past summer working on a fire crew in the Umatilla National Forest for the U.S. Forest Service. CLASS of 2013 Christopher M. Dann came by the school to help with lunch duty this fall, before he headed back to the University of Chicago. Among the boys he served was his brother, Charlie ’23! CLASS of 2014 Will Kuechler Dad Jack writes: “Will is attending Northeastern University, in Boston, MA. He is a general studies: business major, and is a member of Northeastern’s Division 1 Crew Team. He rowed for Marin Rowing Association during high school, where he was awarded both the Novice Athlete of the Year in 2016 and the Male Athlete of the Year in 2018.” Jason Li writes: “I’m majoring in kinesiology and I’ve been really busy familiarizing myself with the skeleton. I also managed to land a job as an assistant coach for my high school cross country team at University High School.” Malcolm MacDermid writes: “College is treating me very well. I’m going to a lovely little school called Juniata, in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania, where I was recruited to run track and field. I’m planning on being a dual marine science and environmental science program of emphasis (Juniata’s version of a major, which allows us to customize our learning, it’s pretty great, but being a dual science major is a ... pain to say the least.) Cathedral really taught me well. Being around boys for nine straight years seriously deprived me of female company so I made sure my entire friend group is female. While I’m of course joking, the vast majority of my friends are female and it’s phenomenal!” Julian Manyika Mom Sarah reports that Julian was one of a hundred participants in this year’s International Congress of Youth Voices. He’s also playing on MIT’s basketball team.
