EVENTS ALUMNI

ALL-ALUMNI REUNION BY MATT THIER ’00, Alumni Program Coordinator On May 31, 2019, nearly 200 alumni, alumni parents, former and current faculty members, and friends gathered in Grace Cathedral to celebrate the School's annual All-Alumni Reunion. The evening started off with a reception for milestone reunion classes (those ending in ’04 and ’09), who caught up with classmates and their former teachers over hors d’oeuvres and wine. Afterwards, the rest of the alumni community joined them, where Headmaster Burns Jones and Alumni Association President Carlton Linnenbach ’87 welcomed them. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of this year's Alumni Awards. Jad Dunning ’82 received the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award for his many years of service to the School as Board Chair and Treasurer (not to mention parent twice-over), as well as his involvement in local non-profits that assist disadvantaged children. Jackie Jung received the Impact Award for her 25 years working at the Front Desk, where she was the face of the School to over half of the families who've ever attended Cathedral. The event was a CSB-themed affair through and through, from the setting inside Grace Cathedral, to the food provided by Rich Mainzer ’82 (Boneyard BBQ), to the wine and beer from Michael Hanna ’94 (Hanna Wines) and Steve Seto ’99 (Holycraft Brewery). It was also the first time we've had a program specifically for our milestone classes, and after how well it was attended and talked about it, certainly won't be the last. Be on the lookout for a Save the Date for next year's event. It's a party you won't want to miss!

Each year, the Alumni Association takes nominations from the School community and selects the recipients for two annual awards. The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to an alumnus who embodies the values and leadership qualities of Cathedral School for Boys in their professional career, entrepreneurial ventures, academic achieve- ments, or civic contributions.

Do you know any Cathedral graduates or community members who should be considered for either award? Email Alumni Program Coordinator Matt Thier ’00 at thier@cathedralschool.net, or call 415.614.5106. Nominations should be submitted before December 31, 2019, to be eligible for the spring 2020 award.

The Impact Award is presented to any member of the CSB community—alumnus, faculty, staff, parent, or otherwise, who has made a significant impact on the life of the School. Nominations for both awards can be submitted from anyone in the School community. The winner, as chosen by members of the Alumni Association, will be honored at the School, celebrated at All-Alumni Reunion in the spring, and will be recognized on plaques that will hang in the School’s entrance.
